Thoracic outlet syndrome happens when the nerves or blood vessels between your collarbone and first rib become compressed. This area called the thoracic outlet, is a tight space that can cause pain, numbness, and tingling in your shoulder, arm, and hand. Getting the right diagnosis is crucial because TOS symptoms are often mistaken for other conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome or cervical radiculopathy.

The good news is that TOS can often be managed with specific exercises and conservative treatments. In this video, I’ll share exercises that can help relieve compression in the thoracic outlet. These include mobilizing the first rib, stretching the anterior scalene, and performing pectoralis stretches. By creating more space in the thoracic outlet, these exercises can provide significant relief.

I’ll also talk about the importance of good posture. Forward hunching and rounded shoulders can make compression worse. Simple changes to your workstation—like adjusting your chair height and taking regular stretch breaks—can make a huge difference in reducing symptoms.

My goal is to offer you hope and practical solutions for managing TOS. Early intervention is key, and small changes to your daily habits can lead to big improvements in how you feel. If you’re dealing with symptoms that sound like TOS, don’t wait to get help.
