Pediatric and Family Chiropractic in Golden Valley
Pediatric care is not a smaller version of an adult adjustment. The approach changes with your child's age and stage.
Newborns & infants
Why families come in: stiffness after a long or assisted birth, a head tilt or turning preference, or feeding more easily on one side.
How care is adapted: fingertip-level pressure with held contacts instead of quick thrusts, lasting seconds. No cracking or twisting.
Toddlers
Why families come in: falls and tumbles, or changes in how they walk or favor one side.
How care is adapted: care often happens while your child plays, sits on your lap or looks at a book.
School-age kids
Why families come in: backpack and posture concerns, sports strains, or back and neck soreness after bumps.
How care is adapted: lighter contacts than an adult adjustment, plus posture and movement coaching.
Teens
Why families come in: sports and overuse injuries, "tech neck," headaches, or scoliosis monitoring alongside their pediatrician.
How care is adapted: a more structured visit, still adapted to their size, with sport-specific exercise.
Pregnancy
Why families come in: back and pelvic discomfort during pregnancy and after birth.
How care is adapted: Dr. Madeline's prenatal care, including the Webster Technique. Pregnancy care
Parents & adults
Why families come in: neck pain, back pain, headaches and sciatica.
How care is adapted: an individual plan that may include adjustments, soft-tissue work, rehab exercises and acupuncture. Conditions we treat

Your Child's First Visit
Nothing happens before you understand it. Parents can ask questions at every step.
Intake & history
After you book a New Patient Appointment, you'll get an email to set up your account and fill out intake forms. For babies, we ask about pregnancy and birth, feeding patterns and milestones.
Exam & explanation
Dr. Madeline does a thorough, age-appropriate exam, then explains what she's seeing and what she would like to do before any adjustment.
A plan with a goal
How often a child comes in depends on what you're working on. Care has a defined start and a defined goal, not an open-ended schedule.
See your pediatrician first when
Your child has a fever, an active infection, an injury that may need imaging, or new or worsening symptoms. Pediatric chiropractic is not a replacement for your pediatrician and does not treat disease. If your child has trouble breathing, is unresponsive or has a serious injury, call 911.
Is Chiropractic Care Safe for Kids?
Chiropractic care for children is adapted to the individual child and, for babies and kids, is very gentle. No health treatment is completely free of side effects. The most commonly reported reactions in kids are mild and short-lived, such as some fussiness or sleepiness for a few hours after a visit.
We work alongside your child's medical team rather than in place of it, and we'll tell you if something should be checked by your pediatrician first. For a deeper look, read Is Chiropractic Care Safe for Babies and Kids?

Pediatric Chiropractic Questions
Is there a pediatric chiropractor in Golden Valley, MN?
Yes. Dr. Madeline Klesk, DC at Forward Spine Center, 701 Decatur Ave N, Ste 102, Golden Valley, MN 55427, sees newborns through teens. She has additional training with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. The clinic serves Golden Valley, Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, New Hope, Plymouth, Robbinsdale, Crystal and Wayzata.
At what age can my child start chiropractic care?
Children of any age, from newborns through teens, can receive chiropractic care when it's delivered by a chiropractor trained in pediatrics. Dr. Madeline adjusts her approach to each child's age and developmental stage. Talk with your pediatrician about any concerns first.
Will my baby be adjusted the same way as an adult?
No. Infant adjustments use fingertip-level pressure with held, sustained contacts rather than quick thrusts, and they last only seconds. There's no cracking and no twisting. Toddlers are often cared for while they play or sit on a parent's lap, and older kids receive lighter contacts than adults.
Do I need a referral from my child's pediatrician?
No referral is needed to book at Forward Spine Center. We welcome coordination with your pediatrician, because pediatric chiropractic is not a replacement for medical care. A fever, an active infection or an injury that may need imaging should be checked by your pediatrician first.
Can parents and kids be seen at the same clinic?
Yes. Forward Spine Center cares for infants, children, teens, pregnant parents, athletes and older adults. Parents can be seen for neck pain, back pain, headaches or pregnancy discomfort while kids get care adapted to their age. Call the front desk to ask about scheduling family members together.
Does insurance cover chiropractic care for kids?
Most health insurance plans cover chiropractic care, and Forward Spine Center is in network with most major plans. Check your plan's details for your child, and bring your insurance card and photo ID. If you don't have insurance, ask us for a Good Faith Estimate before your visit.
How often will my child need to come in?
It depends on what you're working on. After the exam, Dr. Madeline will explain her recommendation. Care should have a defined start and a defined goal.
