Quick answer: Yes, most health insurance plans cover chiropractic care in Minnesota. State law requires health plans that cover a service a chiropractor is licensed to provide to cover it when a chiropractor provides it. Medicare covers spinal adjustments for a subluxation, Minnesota auto no-fault covers chiropractic after a car accident, and workers' compensation covers chiropractic treatment for a work injury. Forward Spine Center in Golden Valley is in network with most major plans and also accepts Medicare, most Medicaid plans, workers' compensation, personal injury and HSA/FSA cards. No referral is needed.

Does health insurance cover chiropractic in Minnesota?

In most cases, yes. Minnesota Statutes section 62A.15 says health plans must include chiropractic treatment to the extent the services are within the scope of chiropractic licensure, and describes the intent as equal access to benefits for people who choose a doctor of chiropractic. The law also says it does not change or add to the benefits in your plan, so your plan's own deductible, copay and visit limits still apply.

At Forward Spine Center, we are in network with most major plans. Bring your insurance card and photo ID to your first visit.

Does Medicare cover chiropractic?

Yes, for one specific service. According to Medicare.gov, Part B covers spinal manipulation by a chiropractor to correct a subluxation, which Medicare describes as spinal joints that fail to move properly while the contact between the joints remains intact. After the Part B deductible, you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. Medicare does not pay for other services or tests a chiropractor orders, such as X-rays, massage therapy or acupuncture. Forward Spine Center accepts Medicare.

Under Minnesota Statutes section 65B.44, basic economic loss benefits include up to $20,000 for medical expense loss per person, and medical expenses specifically include chiropractic services. Forward Spine Center accepts personal injury and auto accident cases. Neck pain and whiplash after a crash are common reasons people come in.

Does workers' compensation cover chiropractic?
